Bike sharing is finally going to happen in the Bay Area for a few select cities. The Caltrain stations in San Jose, Mountain View and Palo Alto will have bikes ready to ride starting in March.
The missing link for many commuters is the trip from the Caltrain station to the final destination. Having bikes ready for use at the stations will help with commuters who otherwise would not have access to a bike. Hopefully it’ll encourage new mass transit riders wanting to ditch their cars in exchange for a more sustainable ride.
If this pilot program goes well, you can bet that there will be more locations sprouting up around the Bay. It’s one step closer to becoming a more bicycle-friendly community.
